The Seeing Eye Welcomes T.J.

On March 1, 2005, a male Golden retriever puppy was born and named T.J. The memorial monies donated by family and friends are helping to sponsor T.J. as he enters into his training to become a guide dog. T.J. will live for one year with a family as part of the Puppy Raising Program where he will receive love, guidance and socialization. After that year he will return to The Seeing Eye to begin formal training and be matched with a person who is blind. They will learn to work together and care for each other and begin life anew as partners in independence. We’ll receive regular updates on T.J.’s life and his work.

The Seeing Eye is North America’s pioneer dog guide school founded in 1929 and located in Morristown, New Jersey. You can find out more about this wonderful organization at: www.seeingeye.org. If you want to make a donation in memory of Tom, just mention this when you contact The Seeing Eye. To learn more about the work Amy Rodgers Salmon, Tom and Jo’s youngest daughter, is doing in the area of training and development to assist the visually impaired, go to: http://therodgersgroup.com/creative.html

We are gathering stories about Tom from those who worked and played with him over the course of the last 76 years. Send your stories, pictures or other memorabilia via email to celebratetom@therodgersgroup.com or by mail to The Rodgers Family, PO Box 130, Summit Lake, Wisconsin 54485.
